The PlasmaSync 42PD2 is the latest generation of NEC’s
42" PD Series monitors, the only plasma monitors available today that are
designed specifically to provide an ideal solution for digital signage
applications in public display environments. PD Series monitors are thin and can
hang on a wall, but that isn’t the only reason they are the ideal solution for
digital signage. The PlasmaSync 42PD2 incorporates an innovative set of features
and capabilities that enable it to successfully meet the challenges of public
display application environments like no other plasma monitor. If you are
looking for a 42" plasma monitor to display information in public settings,
choose the only one that was designed specifically for your application needs -
the PlasmaSync 42PD2.
Key Features:
Create an 84" diagonal image with no external equipment

RS-232 external control
- Create an 84" diagonal image with no external equipment
- The PlasmaSync 42PD2 includes a built-in matrix display capability that
allows you to configure a 2x2 video wall with no additional external
equipment. This gives you the flexibility to create a bigger-than life image
you can hang right on the wall, which is a big benefit when you want to
upgrade large static signs to equally large dynamic digital signage. All you
have to do is connect the monitors via signal loop-through and mount them
using one of NEC's pre-configured quad mount options. Screen image
configuration is simple with all sizing and centering controls readily
available in the On-Screen user menu system. Compared to a bulky CRT monitor
or rear-screen projection matrix display the 42PD2 is slim at only 4.4
inches and cost-effective because it requires no external control equipment
- and all this functionality is built right in.
- Thin bezel enables 2x2 matrix configuration
- At slightly more than 1" thick, the front bezel of the 42PD2 is the
thinnest of any plasma monitor and thin enough to enable a 2x2 matrix
configuration with minimal interference tot he screen image.
- Anti-glare screen improves readability
- The 42PD2 includes an anti-glare screen filter that helps make images
readable in the difficult ambient lighting conditions common to many public
display environments - such as storefront windows and transportation
terminals.
- Automatic Operation simplifies your application
- The 42PD2 has a built-in programmable timer that allows the monitor to
operate automatically. Power on, power off, switch input sources or enable
the AccuShield Phosphor Protection System without ever touching the monitor.
This can alleviate the need to train your personnel in the operation of the
42PD2 when deploying large numbers of displays across distributed
installation sites.
- AccuShield™ Phosphor Protection System
- NEC's exclusive AccuShield Phosphor Protection System improves the
monitor's suitability for continuous use environments by alleviating
concerns about image retention and phophor burn.
- Innovative cabinet design provides
- The PD Series provides a "bay" inside the monitor's cabinet that
can accommodate a small form-factor PC. Design and integrate your own
application-specific PC solution or utilize an off-the-shelf 3rd party
product designed specifically for the 42PD2.
- Create a self-contained solution
- Any PD Series monitor can become a self-contained public display solution
with source and display in one thin, neat, wall-mountable package when it is
combined with a PC like the MiTAC PlasmaSync Engine™ or one of the other
small form-factor PCs developed for NEC by one of our PlasmaSync Partners.
- Comprehensive & flexible inputs
- A complete array of inputs including RGB, Composite Video, S-Video and a
DVI 29-pin digital input are included. Signal loop through is available on
RGB, Composite and S-Video inputs.
- Cable management presents a clean look
- PD Series monitors provide a cable management system that allows you to
conceal cables and inputs for a clean appearance in a wall or ceiling mount
installations. This prevents the need to add a costly enclosure to achieve
the desired aesthetics in your installation. Plus, terminal doors enclose a
convenient storage pocket for the handheld remote control.
- RS232 external control
- Monitor functions can be operated remotely via RS232 communications
protocol, so you can run all of your signage from one central network
control location without ever visiting the installation sites. And the
monitors will even tell you if they have a problem because they include a
self-diagnostic function that communicates via the RS232 port.
- Easy to handle
- Built-in carrying handles make moving and installing the monitor safe and
convenient.
