The Model 2986 is a controller-based external modem that interfaces to a USB port or a computing device. The Model 2986 can be used with Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Unix operating systems that can address a USB port. The 2986 is USB port powered to eliminate power adapter clutter. Other features of the Model 2986 include: voicemail support when used with compatible software, send/receive fax support, robust ZoomGuard lightning protection, and automatic configuration. The Model 2986 is a 56K bps/V.90 modem with support for V.42 bis and MNP 5 data compression and V.42 and MNP 2-4 error correction. The Model 2986 is provided with fax and data communications software for the Macintosh. The product is compliant with Restriction on Hazardous Substance (RoHS) and can be used on systems shipped into the EU.
